Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST)

College course number:

CJC-5000

This course will teach officers the practical applications associated with Standardized Field Sobriety Testing (SFST). The SFST is a battery of three tests performed during a traffic stop in order to determine if a driver is impaired. The tests include the horizontal gaze nystagmus, the walk-and-turn, and the one-leg stand. Developed in the 1970s, these tests are scientifically validated and are admissible as evidence in court in a majority of states.
