Employment Law & Regulations

This course introduces the principle laws and regulations affecting public and private organizations and their employees or prospective employees. Topics include fair employment practices, EEO, affirmative action, and employee rights and protections. Upon completion, students should be able to evaluate organization policy for compliance and assure that decisions are not contrary to law.

Civil Liability

This course covers liability issues for the criminal justice professional. Topics include civil rights violations, tort liability, employment issues, and other related topics. Upon completion, students should be able to explain civil trial procedures and discuss contemporary liability issues.

***This course is part of the Public Service Management Certificate program but is open for any Public Safety employee to participate. There is a textbook requirement that is not covered by N.C. Public Safety tuition waiver.***

Paramedic Refresher

Paramedic Refresher Hybrid Registration fee exempt for qualified participants (must provide proof of affiliation) This refresher course is for paramedics currently credentialed in North Carolina and/or by National Registry. It covers the 120-hour refresher curriculum according to North Carolina OEMS guidelines, including the refresher curriculum as prescribed by the National Registry for the Paramedic level.
